CIS 550 Data Cleansing, Integration and Visualization
In this course, you will learn how to import, clean, structure, and effectively display data. Underlying data, in many business applications, comes from multiple sources and may have missing values and inconsistencies that need to be identified. Data cleansing and wrangling will then allow the creation of realistic, insightful, and comprehensible data visualizations, while avoiding misleading techniques. Data integration, cleansing, and organization will be one of the main themes of the course. You will also learn best practices in data visualization based on principles from graphic design and cognitive science. Through discussion, individual research, and hands-on use of cutting edge tools (including: Alteryx, Excel, Tableau, and Power BI), we will develop knowledge and skills that will be immediately applicable in businesses analytics.
