OTH 6534 Physical Dysfunction II

Physical Dysfunction II (4). Following the developmental model, this course is a continuation of OTH 6434-Physical Dysfunction I. It relies heavily on the theories of practice and tenants of evaluation and treatment discussed in OTH6434 Physical Dysfunction I. The course is designed to be a combination of lab and lecture. As appropriate, students will break into lab to assure cohesive understanding of theory and practice. The class will focus on the study of adult physical disability and its effect on occupation. Students will follow the occupational therapy process for each adult condition from evaluation through discharge and post discharge. The student will develop, discuss, compare, and debate appropriate treatments for those clients in the adult population. As the development of the student continues, he or she will learn to analyze various assessments and treatment plans for adult populations based on the models, frames of reference, and evidence. The learning experience will involve lecture, projects, face-to-face labs, team-based learning, case based learning and hands on evaluation of adults.
