MASTERPIECES OF THE ENGLISH NOVEL (3). A study of major developments in the English novel during the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries focusing on a reading of representative works by authors such as Richardson, Fielding, Austen, Dickens, Thackeray, George Eliot, Hardy, Joyce, Lawrence and Woolf. Prerequisite: ENG 221 or ENG 222 or permission of the instructor.
