SWK 454 Trauma Informed Practice
This class introduces students to a comprehensive exploration of the psychological trauma field, including the history and current theories in the field, the nature of trauma (physical abuse, neglect, sexual abuse, combat, and natural disasters), how trauma affects individuals and systems, grief reactions, and traumatic stress. Also included in this course is an exploration of the professional’s response to trauma. Such as vicarious trauma, PTSD, and secondary traumatic reaction. Lastly, the course reviews the various evidenced-based practices in the trauma field.
