Admission to Candidacy
Candidacy is an important transition in the progress towards completion of a graduate degree and indicates that a student has demonstrated the research, scholarship, and dispositions expected by his/her professional discipline. Students admitted to candidacy are generally on track to complete final coursework, comprehensive examinations, and theses/dissertations. Each degree program has specific requirements for candidacy which are outline in this section of the Graduate Bulletin.
NOTE: As of May 6, 2021, the Candidacy requirement was deleted as a requirement for students enrolled in non-thesis masters program. Students in programs with thesis and dissertation requirements must still fulfill the candidacy requirements for their specific degree program.
