Independent Study Courses

A request for independent study must be submitted in writing  by the faculty member and the student  or approval by the department chair, college/school dean and the vice president for academic affairs. The request must explain the need to use the independent format and the rubrics that will be used to evaluate the  required assignments. The faculty member must maintain documentation of weekly contact with the student and submit progress reports to the department chair, dean and vice president for academic affairs during the week of midterm and final exams.

This does not apply to university approved practicums and internships.
