CMM 418 Beat Reporting and Special Topics
Old Name: Beat Reporting across Media
Description: This advanced reporting and news production course requires students to cover assigned and chosen news issues to produce news packages. This newsroom-style course is designed for students who have taken basic news writing and reporting and are ready to expand their journalistic education into a more in-depth class about the process of reporting and developing news packages for a specific area of news or current news topic. Students learn by reading, studying, questioning, discussing, and practicing journalism. This course can be considered a capstone course for demonstrating a mastery of reporting, interviewing, writing, compiling data, shooting and editing videos, creating visual content, and revising news packages for professional publications and presentations, such as industry conferences and organizations.
Prerequisite
At least one 300-level course is required - CMM 313, CMM 327 or CMM 344.
