PTH 7782 Geriatrics
Geriatrics (3). This course examines the physical, cognitive, psychosocial, physiological and functional changes associated with normal and pathologic aging. General principles of geriatric rehabilitation and unique considerations specific to the elderly will be discussed. Clinical Decision making through the use of case studies will allow students to work independently and in groups to improve their application of Physical therapy interventions with the aging adults. Prior understanding of the Guide to Physical Therapist Practice Preferred Practice Patterns and Pharmacology is necessary.
