SWK 502 Human Behavior & Soc Environ I
Human Behavior & Social Environment I (3). SWK 502 is the first of two sequential courses in the Human Behavior and Social Environment (HBSEI & HBSE II) sequence. This course utilities a multidimensional framework to analyze the biological, psychological, social and cultural, and spiritual dimensions of human behavior from conception to death. Additionally, students will explore the person and environment transactions that occur amongst individuals. Emphasis will be placed on examining: (a) the range of social systems in which people live (groups, families, organizations and communities); (b) how these systems in which people live promote and deter people in maintaining health and well-being, (c) how these systems affect and are affected by human behavior; and (d) the consequences of diversification (ethnic background, race, class, sexual orientation, disability, and culture) on social functioning in the South, nationally and our global society.
