Preschool Through Grade 12 Certification

The Preschool Through Grade 12 (P-12) Certification programs at Alabama State University are designed for educator candidates seeking specialized certification in Music Education (Instrumental and Vocal/Choral). These programs are housed within the College of Education, Department of Curriculum and Instruction and lead to the Bachelor of Music Education (B.M.E.) degree, along with eligibility for Alabama Class “B” Teacher Certification in Music Education.

Candidates in this program receive comprehensive training in music pedagogy, instructional methodologies, and educational best practices tailored for teaching music across all grade levels (P-12). The curriculum integrates coursework in music theory, performance, and music education methods with extensive field experiences in school-based settings.
