Special Education/Collaborative Teacher
The Special Education/Collaborative Teacher program leads to a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree and eligibility for Alabama Class “B’’ Teacher Certification in Special Education for grades K-6 and/or 6-12. The program is designed to prepare educators to support and instruct students with disabilities in both inclusive and specialized settings.
The Collaborative Teacher Program equips candidates with specialized knowledge and skills to:

Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, families, and support personnel to provide individualized support for students.
Candidates engage in extensive field experiences, working directly with students in public school classrooms, special schools, and residential educational settings from preschool through secondary levels. Additionally, candidates gain practical experience through community-based involvement, including tutoring, mentoring and volunteer service in special education programs.
Graduates of the Special Education/Collaborative. Teacher Program are well-prepared to assume teaching and leadership roles in K-12 Special education programs.
