Special Education/Collaborative Teacher

The Special Education/Collaborative Teacher program leads to a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree and eligibility for Alabama Class “B’’ Teacher Certification in Special Education for grades K-6 and/or 6-12. The program is designed to prepare educators to support and instruct students with disabilities in both inclusive and specialized settings.

The Collaborative Teacher Program equips candidates with specialized knowledge and skills to:

  • Implement differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.

  • Effectively manage classroom behaviors and create positive learning environments.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, families, and support personnel to provide individualized support for students.

  • Utilize evidence-based strategies and assistive technologies to enhance student learning.
