OTH 7211 Analysis of Occupation

This course is designed to provide a basic understanding of using purposeful activity and occupation in treating clients/patients/consumers. Theories will be reviewed, and practical experience in using crafts, expressive media, and technology will be explored. Students will be required to produce various forms of media (i.e., handicrafts, ceramics, painting, etc.), instruct others in producing an activity, and perform an activity analysis. Students will learn to develop and teach compensatory strategies and grade and adapt tasks for patients' successful engagement in occupation. The course will be approximately 85% performance-based and 15% didactic-based. Students will also design and direct group activities for atypical and typical populations across their lifespans.
