OTH 7412 Therapeutic Intervention & Special Topics
This course is a specific intervention course; it is designed to be a seminar/lab course. Students explore and practice topics and techniques that are utilized in all age groups and with various diagnoses. In each section, the student explores the patient populations that are appropriate for the intervention, the methods of the intervention, and any precautions or safety issues associated with the technique. We also discuss other disciplines that might be involved and legal issues associated with the particular intervention. Topics covered include wound care, modalities (superficial and deep), splinting, feeding and dysphagia, adaptive equipment and wheelchair management, ergonomics, and industrial rehabilitation.
Prerequisite
Successful completion of all previous OTD courses.
