OTH 7520 Document and Professional Writing

Study of documentation procedures, payment systems, and legal implications involved in patient care. This course addresses the importance of occupation, ethics, and evidence-based outcomes in documentation. The student will debate what constitutes ethical documentation and understand the role of technology (electronic documentation) in the occupational therapy process. They will also examine the role of professional and interprofessional communication in the clinic, marketing, grant writing, forming policies, and effecting policy changes. The student will be exposed to lectures, experiential learning, debates, roundtable discussions, and individual projects. At the end of this course, the student will be prepared to document patient care and occupational therapy activities as suitable for level II fieldwork.
