OTH 7304 Fieldwork Level I (1 of 2)
The first of the two level I fieldwork experiences provides practical experience in carrying out professional responsibilities under appropriate supervision and professional role modeling. Fieldwork shall be conducted in specifically identified settings equipped to provide clinical application of principles learned in the academic program and be relevant to the student's learning needs. Level I fieldwork includes those experiences designed to enrich didactic coursework through directed observation and possibly participation in selected aspects of the occupational therapy process. This experience is not intended to emphasize independent performance. The expectation is for the student to identify how occupational therapy services may impact existing programming, provide an arena in which the student will further develop professional behaviors, gain insight about other professions, embrace emerging areas of practice, explore occupation, and view environments in which occupational therapy practice may occur. The small group format designed for this fieldwork allows for discussion of clinical experiences in didactic courses and intervention by faculty when indicated.
Prerequisite
Satisfactory progress in the ASU OT Program of the first two semesters.
